Do you hunt, or only shoot?

When I was growing up in the 1960s hunting was the passion in my family. The purpose of the gun was so you could hunt.
Over the years I’ve become acquainted with several that own a bunch of guns but that do not hunt, some that that have never hunted. They enjoy the shooting, plinking, competition as primary. I’m even getting to be of that mind the older I get. Anybody else?

I do both, but I’ve definitely leaned more toward shooting over time. Hunting’s great, but range time is just easier to fit in regularly.

I still try to get out hunting whenever I can, but to be honest? These days, a good clean range session really wins out. There's no getting up at four in the morning to freeze, and certainly no dragging a carcass out of the woods. I suppose getting a bit older just shifts what you care about.

I hunt every year, but I shoot at the range more often than hunt. Range time is trigger time that builds confidence for when you get that shot on a hunting trip. Besides, you can only fit so much meat in a freezer.
