just got my first 10/22, what's next?

hey folks, just picked up my first 10/22, and wow, I see why everyone loves these! right outta the box, it shoots like a charm, but man, the customization options are wild.

I wanna make it mine but not go crazy just yet. what upgrades or mods have you guys done that really made a difference or just added to the fun? what do you think I should tackle first?

I haven't upgraded mine yet, but I've heard folks love starting with a better stock or trigger

Welcome to the addiction, since you’re talking mods, let me drop the hot take...why even mess with the trigger? Isn't replacing the barrel the only upgrade that genuinely earns the 10/22 its 'tack-driver' reputation, or are we all just wasting cash on $100 triggers for a plinker?

Yep, I’d get a Wolfe spring kit from Midway, maybe $10-$12. Use a dremel to CAREFULLY, take some metal off the sear/hammer engagement then use the dremel with a polishing wheel & compound to slick it up. You can take the trigger from the typical 6#s down to 2 1/2 or so.
Or, you could just buy an aftermarket trigger but that’s a lot more expensive.
