What’s the best trade you’ve ever made?

The post on what we look for at gun shows brought the question to my mind. I like to trade guns. If I sell them, often the money gets flittered away to other expenses.
For me, two trades come to mind.
I was at a gun show down in Colorado. I a had an older, but very nice, Bausch & Lomb 36x target scope I had picked up on a pawn shop rifle I bought. I had maybe $50-$100 into the scope. While carrying it around the tables a fellow offered a mint Browning 22 pistol with a Leupold 2x on it. We swapped.
Another time here in Wyoming I was at the Casper show which I used to go to every time when I lived in Casper. I noticed for 2-3 previous shows a dealer had a nice 16 ga double on his table. I never paid much attention to it until I was strolling through with a rifle I had traded for. I was not into the rifle for much. Turns out the double was a beautifully restored Sterling Fox from the 1920s or 1930s. We swapped.

Back during the China virus, everyone wanted "black rifles", so they were in short supply almost everywhere. I traded some ARs & AKs to my favorite FFL (who was having a hard time getting them) for some nice revolvers & bolt action rifles that he had in stock. Worked well for both of us!

I'm not a big fan of trading.
Over the summer I traded online strength and conditioning programming for 2 brand new Mark 4 scopes, sealed in the box.

Gun shows really shine for finding gems you wouldn’t spot online or in stores. Love hearing these stories!
