Partial to Benchmade with S30V steal. Favorite is the Mini Bugout

Light ,Stays sharp longer, But do need diamond stones too effectively sharpen

What's your budget, what blade size (2 - 5"), what will you typically cut with it (boxes vs food, etc), what kind of opening mechanism (slipjoint vs one hand opener vs automatic), etc. ? For example, this is a slipjoint on top, vs a modern one hand opener (flipper) below:

For general purpose and modest budget, it's still hard to beath the venerable Buck 110, IMO (manual left, vs. auto right):
