I started building a custom precision rifle three years ago. It's 90% complete and has been for two years. Every time I'm about to finish it, I see a better scope or stock or trigger and start second-guessing. At this point it's not a project, it's a permanent state of 'almost done.' Maybe perfection is the enemy of completion..

You have more patience than I have.

I only have one custom rifle. I spent at least 3 years deciding what I wanted to build and by that time I had money saved to finish it. The most painful part was the 8 months it took to get the Bartlien barrel. I see that now the lead time is 10 months. Once my barrel came in my gunsmith finished the barreled action in 8 more days.

When I got it back I had the trigger, Stock, and scope and got it together in a couple days.

Once I decided what I wanted I had a hard time waiting.

That project sounds familiar. I've got a rifle sitting in the safe that's always one part away from being perfect. At some point, you just have to say it's done.
