Do you pack a backup rifle?

I usually carry a lightweight backup rifle when I’m deep in the backcountry, no really every day but on long glassing days I like the insurance. One time my bolt got jammed and that spare saved the hunt (and my ego). Do you tote a second rifle or trust one gun only?

I bring one main rifle and a small backup in the truck. I learned the hard way after a firing pin snapped mid-hunt… never again.

Yeah, sometimes when I'm out glassing way out in the backcountry, I bring a small, light rifle as a backup. Stuff happens, you know? Bolts get stuck, gear breaks, or the weather turns nasty. Having a spare just means you can keep hunting and not feel like an idiot if something goes wrong.

Only bring it on long trips. It's like a spare tire, if you're way out with no signal, it's good to have even if it's heavy.

That backup light is a lifesaver if you need a quick boost or your primary light fails. I dig your thinking.

I probably should but I hunt close to home and am always with a buddy that has a rifle. I’ve never traveled great distances so that I was in an isolated camp but if I did that sort of hunting, I’d likely have a backup.

I always pack a spare when I'm way out in the woods. I learned that the hard way when a scope mount went loose during a hunt. Carrying two rifles sucks but losing a bull is even worse.

Always have a back up, what if your main rifle quits when you need it most? You're gonna ask the deer to hold on?
