Been thinking about building my first AR-15 for a while, finally started digging into parts. I've seen some decent deals if you search around, but honestly, I'm a bit lost on what's really worth it and what's just a waste of money.
Looking to do a basic rifle build, probably gonna stick with 5.56 for now. I've read some people suggesting other calibers for beginners, but I'm mostly just trying to keep it simple.
Any must-avoid brands for parts? I'd love to hear about things that just didn't work out for you or stuff you wish you'd known before starting. What hidden costs did you run into? Is there really a ton of extra stuff I should factor in?
Also, part of me wonders if it's smarter just to buy one that's already built. What did you all do when you were first starting? Any and all experience helps!
