Thoughts on weapon-mounted lights

I've been thinking... are weapon lights sometimes a bad idea? I've used them before, and I accidentally lit up things I was trying to stay hidden from. Even in practice drills, the light felt like it gave away my location. I switched back to a handheld light because I could control it better. Am I the only one who thinks weapon lights is a bad idea? Or do I just need more training?

I put SureFire on my rifle, it gives great visibility but practice aiming before you actually need it.
