Taking the family outside this week

I am trying to get my kids interested in the outdoors, so this week we're doing some winter hiking and maybe trying ice fishing if it's thick enough..not hardcore hunting stuff, just getting them outside. Anyone else using Christmas week to introduce family to outdoor activities?

That's a cool idea. I never thought of winter as a starter season, but easy hikes and simple stuff are probably less scary for kids than diving right into hunting.
